For decades home owners are constantly fighting to get the best colors for their living room and bedroom. I have selected some of my choices for color.
I have provided tips on paint color selection and basic matching with floor and furniture.
HOUSE AND BUILDING COMPONENTS
The walls are the most significant surface in your house. Choose your colors wisely.
Study your space.
Look around at your interior. What are the qualities you want to highlight? Would a warm or cool paint affect the space? It takes some imagination to know what you want for your room. Oftentimes, the ideas are already there in the room! They are the clue!
Match your design with the floor.
Do you have wood floor or tiles? Do you have dark or light colored tiles? Would your wall paint need to pop out or “support” your floor. If your floor is shouting, either your paint has to shout louder or listen.
To shout louder use, strong bright colors – red and orangey. If your walls should support your floor – find neutral colors. Typically, fine wood floors are shouters. This means, white and off white color walls will tamper the strong floor .

Check k if your room has some special features
“If life gives you some lemons, make a lemonade!”
Applying this life lesson to paint selection, means appreciating what you have. Does the room have a prominent window, put in a vase and some decors. Definitely play down the light.
Does the room look empty? try wallpapers and textures to add to the room.
Check the Lighting Design
Some houses have great lighting. That is why you need to have your house done by an architect!
When you know the lighting, adjust to it. If the room was built to have mood or dark lighting, try to use wall paint textures to add shadows or you can use darker palette of colors.

Adjust your Paint Colors to the Existing Furniture
Many home owners paint their interiors in the fairy land if they “buy their dream sofa”. Oftentimes, what happens is that the current colors do not match. Put in mind that the furniture will be the main course and your wall paint are the plates that you will serve this food on! Would it be ridiculous to serve broth soup on a saucer?
Craft a Color Strategy or Scheme
This is the number one rule that many homeowners break in building their home. They find a sofa they like. They bring in some curtains they like. They put in a carpet they like, but together, these pieces do not sing from the same Song Sheet. Their voices do not “blend”.
